New treadmill running record by UiTM students

Students of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Samarahan Campus has set a new record with the “Longest Run on a Treadmill by a Group” in the Malaysia Book of Records, clocking at 120 hours. 9 students from the university participated in record-breaking attempt, which started  at 11am last Monday and ended on tuesday at the Sarawak Regatta and Science and Innovation Carnival at Kuching Waterfront.

As the timer reached a total of 120 hours, cheers and shouts of praise burst out all throughout the crowd of students who had gathered at the Old Courthouse to witness the historical feat.Running around the clock on three treadmills at speeds of 6kph, the students took turns in their attempt to set the record.

“The thought of giving up never crossed my mind, no matter how hard it seemed at the time,” said an exhausted but visibly pleased runner Mohammad Noor Azuan Hamdan.One of the team’s only two girl members, Nurul Ain Syazwani Zakaria, was the sixth runner.Officials from the Malaysia Book of Records were on hand to witness the attempt, presenting the team with a certificate signifying that they had indeed earned themselves a place in the record books. Besides Azuan and Nurul Ain, other runners were Ben Paukin, Donacia Peter, Mohd Farhan Mulyadiy, Mohd Amirul Ismaili, Charles Din Iking, Mohd Nurnazri Qaiyum and Mohd Ady Fadila Majni.
